Visiting Elba
Being bound by Covid19 to holidays by car we chose to try new ways and visited Elba in June. Not knowing much about the island we were in for a surprise.
We were staying a short walk away from Porto Azzurro in the Barbarossa Bay. Our diving company was Omnisub, one of the best scuba diving providers we have had the privilege to dive with so far.
The Tuscan archipelago is a national park. Industrial fishing is prohibited. Hence, under water life has regenerated in the course of the last 15 years to a decent degree. Unfortunately, in June the sea floor is also covered by yellow algea. This carpet disappears in the course of the summer and is gone by September. September, actually, would be the month to visit the island.
